To My Teachers

I think I was in the second or third grade. My class was learning a new poem (The Snare). Suddenly, the Head Mistress appeared standing by the door. She observed the class as we continued with the recitals. She then called my name and asked me to recite the whole poem. I was more than jolted. The look on her face said “I believe you can do it.” I was encouraged. I did it. That simple instance has inspired confidence in me over and over again throughout my life.

She had presided over many lives in their formative years. Now I know what she was trying to instil in our unpredictable lives so many years ago.

I thank God for teachers.

I am deeply grateful to all my teachers.
